Liebster Award!

WOW!!! I am SO honored to have been nominated for the Liebster Award by the lovely Jenn at Take Me to 3rd Grade! I know it have been FOREVERR since I've blogged...and I really have no excuse other than laziness. But I am starting to get over my winter "It's cold outside, I don't want to do anything other than sit on my couch wrapped up in six blankets with the heater blasting" slump and I am ready to come back to the blogosphere! So thank you Jenn for inspiring me to get going again! :)

To accept the Liebster Award I have 11 questions to answer. Here we go!

---Why and how long ago did you start blogging?

Well.... I have been an avid blog-reader since I first started student teaching 3 years ago. Last year I concentrated on surviving my first year teaching and teaching blogs SAVED MY LIFE with my 3/4 split class!! Now that I have a year of teaching under my belt, I decided that I could start sharing my own experiences. I started this blog a few months ago.

---What one word sums up the heart of your blog and why?

I'm going to go with "creativity." This blog challenges me to be creative with my kiddos and not slide into the temptation of following the curriculum step by step, because I want to have something to blog about! I have actually found myself thinking, "I need to make this a better/more engaging/more creative center so that I have something to blog about this week."

---Is there something you learned late in your blogging journey that you wish you had known before?

I'm going to have to table this question because I really don't feel that I have made it very late into my blogging journey! I am still new at this and am learning how to do things every day!

---What is your favorite pastime other than blogging?

I am completely hooked on books and read constantly. I also am planning my wedding for this summer and have been loving figuring out all the details for that!

---How many hours per week do you dedicate to your blog?

This completely depends on the week! Regardless, though, it probably is not enough to make this a super successful blog. :( If I get really excited about something, I can sit down and write a blog post right away! If I have nothing to talk about, I might leave it dormant for a week.... I did get the Blogger app on my phone, though, and that encourages me to write posts during lunch or while I have any down time!

---What category of blog posts do you like the most?

Definitely posts on center activities. I run my 2/3 split class almost entirely on centers, and I am always searching for new ideas!

---Where does your blog inspiration come from?

I am constantly inspired by the other teacher blogs out there to write more and challenge myself! And of course, much of the credit goes to my absolutely amazing students :) They are constantly proving how much they can do and they LOVE when I get creative, so I'm always trying to make new things!

---Which post that you've written are you most proud of?

Well, since I don't have a ton of posts yet, there are not too many to choose from! :) I think the two that most encapsulate my teaching philosophy are my posts about morning meeting, which you can check out here and here.

---Is there any post that you've been planning to do but postponing?

Actually... No! That is surprising because I am the hugest procrastinator. I do have a post for my children's ministry blog, Crayons, Coffee, and Christ, that I've been pushing off since Christmas.... But I am all up to date with Third Grade-O-Saurus!

---Which recipe, project, or idea from my blog (Jenn from Take Me to 3rd Grade) would you like to try?

This was fun because I got to explore Jenn's blog! One thing Jenn did was post a project on DonorsChoose. This is something I've been meaning to get around to for a long time, to fund math manipulatives in my classroom. Someday!!

Whew! Thanks for reading and thank you Jenn for nominating me!! :)
