Candy Sleighs

Okay, confession time: I teach elementary school and I am not. Crafty. Like, not. At. All.

For some reason, though, I was really feeling the crafty bug this week- just in time to give my students homemade candy sleighs for a holiday gift!
They LOVED them! And best of all, they were super easy to make. Check it out:

You need:
-2 candy canes
-3 mini kit Kat bars (each one is only 1 bar)
-1 flat mini candy bar (or 1 mini Reese's piece)
-1 chocolate kiss
-and my new best friend: a hot glue gun!

For real, I have had this thing for years and used it a total of like, 3 times. Game changer!

I actually made these in two parts and then attached the two parts together. I started with the top: glue the chocolate kiss on top of the candy bar.
I made all 28 of these, then moved on to the other part: assembling the sleigh itself! I glued 3 mini kit kats together. I found that they stuck better if I alternated the side they were facing (as in, one upside down, one right side up, one upside down).
Then glue the kiss-candy combo on top:
And for a final step, the candy canes! This was definitely the toughest part because the candy canes need to be on very straight. I glued them directly underneath the side two kit kats.
My final step was to tie a tag on each one:
And, voila! Candy sleighs! The kids loved picking out the one they wanted.

Happy holidays!!
